So the last email I sent suggested you reboot your router based on the warnings from the F.B.I.
Today’s news states that just a reboot might not be enough.
Honestly, I don’t know how they are getting the statistics unless they are tracking the router malware globally themselves.
What is missing from this picture? News and advice from the manufacturers.
No major mentions; no advice; no new firmware, at least for my device in my home office.
However, to be on the safe side and to err on the side of caution, it would be prudent to rest your router back to factory default setting using the reset button the back or bottom of the router; then immediately update it to the latest firmware and change the default user names and passwords.
I would not use any passwords that were used on the computer, router or any websites – especially if the malware can now “sniff” the traffic between your computer and the internet for passwords.
