Moving to ESET Managed Services
Updated August 28, 2025 • PC-Assist
Over the past few weeks, I’ve had the honor of visiting clients onsite and doing semi-annual cleanups. Almost every one of my clients is on the ESET family of products.
Why?
It works. VERY WELL.
Why I chose ESET
When I started my computer business full-time in 2007 here in the desert, I aligned with a few different products: Kaspersky, Trend Micro, Malwarebytes, and Sophos. After getting calls that a computer was infected, again, I realized I needed to find a better product that stopped viruses before they could activate.
Infections often came from browser extensions (shopping deals, recipes, music, “map” add-ons), from links in emails that quietly installed backdoors and spyware, or from sites that loaded a malicious script the moment you clicked.
I’m simplifying the details here, but after years of testing antivirus tools against real-world infections, I found ESET and stuck with it. I was given a free one-year trial long ago and tested it against every infection sample I’d seen on client machines. ESET was the clear winner.
The challenge with home licenses
Most clients have used the home versions of ESET — self-managed and (hopefully) renewed on time. For many, that worked. But quite a few ended up with expired licenses — and infections.
Cleanup can take two to three hours; worst case, the drive needs to be wiped and everything reinstalled.
What’s changing: ESET Managed Services
I’ve been working with my distributor to launch a managed version of ESET for my clients. With ESET PROTECT, I can manage your licensing from a central portal, make sure protection never expires, and remotely deploy protection with a simple link.
Which option fits you?
Home & family (Basic Managed)
If you’re a home user or family, the Managed Security (Basic) plan keeps antivirus current, renewals handled, and protection monitored — without you needing to think about it.
Business & insurance clients (Advanced or higher) Recommended
Businesses — especially those with insurance requirements — should use ESET PROTECT Advanced or higher. Advanced adds full-disk encryption and advanced threat defense. If you need email/cloud app protection, step up to PROTECT Complete. Larger or higher-risk environments can benefit from Enterprise/Elite tiers that add EDR, MFA and patching.
Billing
Both monthly and annual options are available.
If your license is expiring…
If your license is within a month or two of expiring, reach out so I can move you to the managed system and make sure your protection doesn’t lapse.
